BikerDown Foundation is in our 10th year of Adopting Families for the Holidays program.  The program started with the desire to help 2 families that had suffered a tragic loss due to a motorcycle fatality.  While we knew we couldn’t replace the loss they were feeling, we could ensure that the family wasn’t alone and that the children had Christmas under the tree.  The Las Vegas Adopt-a-Family program has helped over 200 families in the Las Vegas Community.  Each family thru out program receives a $275.00 Walmart gift card and $150 food from Walmart/Smith’s to ensure the family has a holiday meal at their table.

In a meeting a few weeks ago at the Southern Nevada COC meeting, it was mentioned that BikerDown Las Vegas did not have the funds this year due to a rising number of accidents in Las Vegas and surrounding areas.  The Board of the COC voted to fund the dinner with Santa for the families to bring their children to receive their gifts, and have a visit with Santa Clause and their donors.  One member was quoted as saying “The dinner with Santa is the best part of the whole year, we must find a way for that to continue.”

Our adoption application process is now open thru November 15th, space is limited, but all families are welcome to apply by clicking here.   If you would be interested in adopting a family or making  a donation to help us buy food for the families or toys, you can make a donation by going to our site or clicking here.

BikerDown is founded in Denver, Colorado, but our chapter in Las Vegas is making an impact every day.  Volunteers and supporters such as Shannon “Dazzlin” Montoya, Nichol “Smiley” Zamora, and Jose “Pepe” Miranda are taking the lead in enabling us to find enough donors to adopt the families, and ensuring that injured riders have a support mechanism at a time they need it the most…after an accident.  If you would like to volunteer and help us make the difference in the life of a family in need, please email Nichol at adminlsv@bikerdown.org
