Multiple people were shot and at least three people were killed at a motorcycle rally in Red River, New Mexico, on Saturday, according to local officials.

Red River Mayor Linda Calhoun said in a video posted on TikTok that the shooting around 5 p.m. resulted in three fatalities, and five victims were transported to hospitals in Denver, Albuquerque, and nearby Taos.

The 41st Annual Red River Memorial Motorcycle Rally drew about 28,000 bikers to the town. The violence occurred between two retail stores and involved members of motorcycle clubs. Law enforcement commented that overserving alcohol probably contributed to Saturday’s shooting. Hence, police would monitor establishments to ensure that this was not occurring again. It was reported that the fight was apparently over photographing members of one of the clubs taken with another motorcycle club in Albuquerque a few days ago.

It was reported that the previous incident then spilled over to Red River, where they ran into each other again, and a confrontation started. It started with words initially, then turned into a fight, which then turned to shots fired.

Killed in the shootout were two members of the Bandidos, identified as Anthony Silva, 26, of Los Lunas, New Mexico, and Damian Breaux, 46, of Socorro, New Mexico. Also killed was Randy Sanchez, 46, of Albuquerque, a member of the Water Dogs.

Johnson said Jacob Castillo, 30, of Rio Rancho, New Mexico, a member of the Water Dogs, was arrested on suspicion of murder. Castillo was wounded in the incident and remained in a hospital on Sunday.

They also proclaimed law enforcement’s clamp-down on the town for the next two days. Most of Main Street in Red River, where the shooting occurred, was closed to the public for the investigation, and law enforcement requested businesses in the area remain closed on Sunday,

This rally is a time-honored tradition for motorcycle riders from all over the country, and it is incredibly sad for bikers who come to share a good time with fellow riders. Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone who has been affected by this episode. This is not a reflection of this event.
